Merry Meet, Friend!
If you're reading this, you likely got here via the coven finder at Mandragora Magika. So, uh, hi! How ya doin'? Glad you made it!
I imagine you have questions. You may be picturing the typical Hollywood style coven, either skyclad or wrapped in dark robes, spouting off some magnificent and perfectly tuned chants, dancing under the blood moon, with lots of aesthetically pleasing witch-core.
And to that I say I FUCKING WISH! Things would be so much easier if I could just BUY witchcraft and spirituality. I've been doing this for years and I swear, sometimes it still feels like I have no idea what I'm doing. The reality is, coven life is so much more simplistic, but also much more difficult. Yes, there may be songs, there may be candles and wine, there will be a circle and sage and probably some crystals or runes or tarot, but none of that matters without love and trust, honor and respect. Our coven is our family, the Earth is our mother. These are meant to be lifelong relationships and they will require maintenance and nurturing, as all good relationships do. The rituals, the ceremonies, the double double toil and trouble, those are things that we build and grow together. All of this takes time, though.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're looking for something casual, something to do on the weekends when you've got nothing better to do, a photo op, someone who can help you cast a spell on your ex....this probably isn't the group for you. I don't mean that in a condescending way, we're just looking for different things and that's perfectly okay.
One last thought - I hate that I have to say this, but I do not tolerate intolerance. If you're homophobic, transphobic, racist (or its cousin, "I'm not racist,buuut..."), or any of those other icky things, please feel free to seek a coven more in tune with your beliefs. I believe food and housing is a basic human right, billionaires should be taxed out of existence, abortion is healthcare, and love is love.
If you've made it this far and sounds like something you'd like to become a part of, feel free to email me. Don't know what to say? Start with an introduction! Tell me all about yourself, your practice and how long you've been practicing, talk about the weather and your favorite cookies, how many cats you have, whatever floats your boat. Make yourself known.
